IND v AUS Boxing Day Test

This summer, the Victorian Government in conjunction with Cricket Australia will be curating the ‘Indian Summer Festival’ being held in line with the Boxing Day Test between India and Australia on the grounds of Yarra Park, outside of the MCG, Melbourne.

You can expect an array of live music from a collection of local and international talent, modern Indian street art painted by Indian and local artists, a host of family cricket activities, some of the best modern Indian food Australia has to offer, an exhibition kabaddi match and an open-air cinema showcasing short Bollywood films and music.

There is a wide variety of food types on offer, featuring restaurants like Horn Please by Chef Jessi Singh of Babujis New York,  Angaaan an Indian community favourite, Two Fat Indians and Gaja by Sashi, the recent Masterchef winner.


With almost 15 food trucks and stalls at the event, there will be no shortage of dosas, kulfi, chaats, chai, coffee, curries naan and rice. You certainly will not leave hungry.


The three-day festival is free and open to all Victorians, as well as local and international visitors. Members of the public do not need a ticket to attend.


The Indian Summer Festival will begin on Bupa Family Day, 23 December 2018, with the Australia and India Men’s Test teams making an appearance on stage and taking the time to meet with fans.


The festival will continue over days one and two of the Boxing Day Test (26 and 27 December), giving cricket fans and the general public an opportunity to sample all that modern Indian culture has to offer.


The festival will be headlined by international acts Raxstar (UK) and Humble The Poet (Canada), Sydney-based L-Fresh The Lion and Pav Dharia, and Melbourne grown Ecca Vandal. The festival will also feature local emerging artists including Manorism, Sahida Apsara and Dub FX. our socials to keep up-to-date with all the event happenings.
